Sam Groves is entering his first season as an assistant coach for the Babson men’s soccer program. Groves came to Babson after spending two years as a volunteer assistant at Brown University. During that time, the Bears won the 2011 Ivy League Championship and made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament. In addition to his work at Brown, Groves has served as the under-13 boys head coach for Bruno United FC, which won the 2012 New England Premiership Championship and advanced to the State Cup finals. He has also worked as both an assistant and a head coach in the Rhode Island Olympic Development Program. A 2011 graduate of the University of Hartford, Groves played four years of soccer for the Division I Hawks, appearing in 67 of the team’s 68 games and earning New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) All-Star honors as a team captain during his senior season.
